We are blessed to share our little mountainside farm with horses, donkey, dogs and cats many of which are rescues or special needs. Until recently, however, somehow we had never heard of a very popular Netflix series called "Heartland" which began in 2007 and revolves around a family's horse rescue farm in Alberta.
We quickly became BIG fans of "Heartland" and were thrilled to learn there were 13 seasons for us to enjoy (with 13-18 episodes per season to boot (we're about half way through Season 2 as I write this post). We try to watch one or two episodes together each night and it is no doubt one of our favorite shows ever.
Every show offers new twists and stories, never-boring and always interesting characters, true to life horse care and training techniques and heart-warming rescue stories. The family's steadfast love for one another as they navigate through life's ups and downs is a beautiful example of what really matters most in this ol' world.
So, if you have not heard of "Heartland" and would enjoy a great family and horse series filmed in an absolutely stunningly beautiful part of Canada, check this one out. I truly believe you will be glad you did and that you will become avid fans as we have within a very short time.
We thought Heartland was one of a kind and the best ever……..Until we discovered McLeod’s Daughters. 8 Seasons with 20 to 30 episodes each season. Cattle and sheep ranching in Australia. We were so sad to finish the last episode. Yes, we look forward to Season 14. I understand it is done but, you have to live in Canada to see it. It’s also a one of a kind series.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, Bill, and for the McLeod Daughters info – we had not heard of it, but will definitely watch it now thanks to your suggestion – it sounds right down our alley. We read somewhere that Season 14 of Heartland airs live in Canada starting in January and will make it to Netflix or some other streaming service by April for those of us in the States. Can’t wait for that either – so grateful for such warm and uplifting and well written and produced shows. Thanks again for writing, Bill, and wishing you and your family good health and peace.
I’ve put “Heartland” in my Netflix queue for those nights when I want to binge “feel good” television based on the recommendation in this post. God knows normal television isn’t “feel good” right now! I’ll stop back by when I’ve watched the first 3 episodes to give you my impressions. So far you haven’t steered me wrong!
